Discussion

Our Hypothesis #1 was supported because 13 people said they shop online for books, and 6 others supported this as well saying that they rarely buy books in store. Our Hypothesis #2 was null, where 13 females took our survey while only 8 males did. Although more females took our survey overall, the results provided the same: not one gender showed higher frequency of shopping online. The only problem with this was that there were more females who took our survey than males. Our last hypothesis was also supported, where we found that 13 of our survey takers said they shopped for clothes. The other item nearest to this was books, which was what 10 people said they shopped online for. Jewelry was another quite popular item in our survey with 7 people. An interesting statistic we recorded related to our question #4. We calculated the average of order totals online in one sitting and it came out to $55. We did the same for question #9, and the average for order totals at the physical store in one outing came out to $106. From this, we learned that people might almost spend double what they spend in one sitting online than if they were to actually visit the store. We also spotted a trend in our freeform question #14. We recorded that 9 people shop online for the convenience and 4 people do it to save money.
