Background
Even though there is minimal information about Instagram studies, a recent survey provided insight as to Instagram's target audience. The survey, "The Demographics of Social Media Users-2012" shows Instagram users are mostly collegiate women. The survey documents that 13% of Internet users are taking and sharing pictures with Instagram app. Furthermore, the statistics show that women are more likely than men to use the site, which are women ages 18-29 (Duggan, 2013, p. 6). From these statistics, university students would fit right into this age group and into our topic.
As far as Instagram and its users, there is more meaning behind the application than merely being used to crop and filter photos. In its user's eyes, emotion runs deep while they share their personal stories and moments with their loves throughout the globe.
