Through our survey we found evidence that supported our hypotheses as well as evidence that refuted one of our hypotheses. With our100 responses we had a good sampling of majors throughout DePaul and almost all of the responses were in the traditional college age range from 18-25 years old. It was weighted, however, by the larger percentage of women that took the survey. We had some surprises but overall our results were satisfactory.First, we found that DePaul students are not likely to use YouTube to seek help. They prefer to use a search engine such as Google. However if they were going to use YouTube for help they are likely to look up videos for beauty tips, crafting and do-it-yourself and technology help.
We found that students mainly access YouTube for music during the evening hours of the day. Also we found the most students considered themselves light users and that surprised us, we thought that most students would consider themselves regular users.
With 70 students who had a YouTube account we found that those students are more likely to watch six or more videos in order to subscribe to a channel, this is more than we originally thought it would take.
If others wish to build upon our survey I think it would be best to open the group to all college students not just DePaul, this would help include all demographics of people. Since DePaul is an urban school, results could have varied if the survey had included rural area schools. Also in order to help improve the survey it is important that there is an equal number of women and men who take the survey.
