About this page

Welcome to our site! This webpage was constructed in order to celebrate classical pieces of French revolutionary art, to explain the historical and artistic context in which these paintings were created, and why these artworks are revered in French culture to this day. Throughout human history, revolutions have spurred changes not only in politics, religion, and economics, but in art and popular culture as well. This is certainly the case with France, a society that experienced several revolutions over the course of the 18th and 19th centuries. This site also serves to commemorate the victims of the November 13th terror attacks in Paris. It is to the families and friends of the victims we send our prayers.
"There are only two forces in the world: the sword and the spirit. In the long run the sword will always be conquered by the spirit." -Napolean Bonaparte.
