My name is John Benedict Kausal (I go by my middle name Ben) and I am a 21-year old college student attending DePaul University in Chicago. I was born and raised in Glenview, Illinois, five miles north of Chicago. I am a Management Information Systems major with a minor in Hospitality Management. Traveling is my ultimate passion, I love learning about new cultures and seeing new places. Aside from traveling in my free time I am an avid reader and video gamer. I love technology and I am constantly trying to stay at the forefront of technological news as I pursue my degree.
I chose to design this website on Budapest because I love the city and spent four months there this past fall (2013). My experience abroad wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for my wonderful parents Paula and Jack Kausal.
During my time abroad I took classes at the Corvinus University of Budapest for a semester. Before I departed to Budapest I knew very little about the city and did not know anyone else going in my program from DePaul. In regarding the question to why I chose Budapest, I answer that I just wanted an adventure and was tired of my everyday life in Chicago. I lived in the dormitories with approximately thirty other Americans from DePaul and the rest Hungarians. I had the chance to meet so many new people from all over the world as well as DePaul. Who knew that I would go halfway across the world and meet lifelong friends from Chicago? I now have friends from all over the world which I miss dearly. I consider my roommate in Budapest, Erik (Hungarian) as one of my best friends as well as my other roommate Matt (DePaul student). It was the greatest experience of my life and I would not trade it for anything. I also got the opportunity to travel all across Europe. I traveled to Munich for Oktoberfest as well as Madrid, Barcelona, Krakow, Milan, Vienna and others. This trip changed my outlook on life and taught me more than I ever thought was possible. I dedicate this website to all the friends and family that made my journey possible.
