Creative Thinking - JW Marriott Hotel Complex - Planned and presented a solution for 20,000 square feet of exhibition space that eliminated the need for an additional basement level. Designed a solution that resulted in significant estimated savings for both construction time and materials.Design Improvisation - Chicago River North Hotel Development - Facilitated discussions between the design architect, general contractor, concrete panel fabricator, and associated consultants regarding a construction error discovered during a concrete floor slab pour. Monitored revisions to the constructed floor slab, and led the redesign effort on the affected exterior concrete panels. Created a panel design that maintained the original visual intent, construction budget, and fabrication schedule.
Coordination with Other Agencies - 600 West Chicago Avenue - Coordinated the redevelopment of an existing building with local building officials. Reviewed building accessibility, toilet room reconfiguration, and egress stair updates. Designed to comply with City of Chicago Landmarks Commission requirements governing the restoration of exterior wall components.
Project Management - Developed objectives and milestones for large-scale architectural projects. Generated project schedules in Microsoft Project. Analyzed staffing and fee projections. Documented design objectives, and produced material description booklets. Created mock-up sets for planning project documentation during the architectural Concept, Schematic, and Design Development phases.
