Website Purpose

This website will be for a local south side business “Don’s Bakery”. This is a local baked goods store on the south side of Chicago in the Roseland neighborhood that makes all natural and organic baked goods. This website will provide a way to show the variety of goods available, ingredients used, possible allergy information and a way to order online for pickup at the store. Also there will be contact information, along with hours of operation and directions to the store.

Target Audience

The mission of the store is to bring natural fresh baked goods to a section of Chicago that is underserved with quality bakery goods. Sections of Roseland have been called a food desert with only the poorest of quality convenience store items and fast food. To find baked goods that are anything more then Hostess or Wonder Bread requires travel to other areas of the city often many miles away. This means that often it’s not possible to get any quality baked items and so the residents are left consuming unhealthy food options even when they would like to do better.

Website Goals

Since the bakery is small all items are not available each day, so the purpose of the bakery is to not only highlight the items but announce the schedule of when the items will be available. All of the items sold will have their nutritional information available along with allergy information so those with special needs. There will be an order page where people can reserve items for pick up from the store and a comment form to submit questions, suggestions or ask for custom items.
