Professional Profile

I have spent the last twenty years in mid tier systems management, Unix (Solaris and Linux), VMS and RSTS/E. Have developed several comercial peer to peer applications that have relied on various Networking topologies, SNA, DecNET and TCP/IP. Durning those development cycles have spend conciderable hours debugging tracing and investigating both failures, performace issues with both the software and hardware. In the last 10 years have been managing Large scale Unix systems and their SNA based storage systems with both Veritas/Symantic and Linux volume managers. Finally have spend the last 3 years doing network security, performace and support. In the capacity I manage Checkpoint Firewalls, F5 Load Balancers and work closely with the router and switching teams. Here I diagnose failures and Performace problems between web based applications and their back end databases using both command base tools and network protocol analysis.
